PlayStation VR2 Announced, Details And Specs Revealed

Finally, more than a year after the release of the PlayStation 5, PSVR2 has been officially announced.
Along with the PSVR2 announcement, as well as a PSVR2 Sense controller were also announced. Though we don’t know what the headset will look like, only the controller.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, the PSVR2 will offer 4K HDR, a 110-degree field of view and foveated rendering. It will also display a resolution of 2000×2040 for each eye and a framerate of 90/12Hz.
The PSVR2 will feature inside-out tracking which “tracks you and your controller through integrated cameras embedded in the VR headset. Your movements and the direction you look at are reflected in-game without the need for an external camera.”
Additionally, it will also feature 3D Audio, as well as headset feedback with built-in vibrations which can apparently allow players to “feel a character’s elevated pulse during tense moments, the rush of objects passing close to the character’s head, or the thrust of a vehicle as the character speeds forward.”

Furthermore, the PSVR2 Sense controllers will include the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers featured in the PS5s DualSense controller. Finally, the PSV2 will only require a single cable that connects to the PS5. It’s a shame it’s not wireless, but at least it’s better than more than one cable.

At this time, a release date or price hasn’t been revealed, but I suspect that Sony’s new headset will release this year and could be at least $269.99/$299.99. However, if bundled with the fancy controllers, it should cost a great deal more. But I could be wrong.
