System Shock remake delayed by two months

The long-awaited System Shock remake has been delayed on PC by two months.

System Shock was intended to release this March. However, it’s now been pushed back to 30 May on PC. To be fair, we’ve waited years for this remake, so hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

“We had hoped to bring the game to market by the end of March, but that turned out to be just beyond our reach; we are after all merely human (unlike Shodan!),” said publisher Plaion.

 

The original System Shock was released way back in 1994 for PC and is considered to be the inspiration for the BioShock series. The remake is said to combine: “the cult gameplay of the iconic original game with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface and all-new sounds and music.”

What’s more, it will also benefit from: “never before seen enemies and quality of life gameplay tweaks, to a revamped hacking system and visceral new combat options featuring a brutal dismemberment system, the System Shock remake welcomes players new and old back to Citadel Station and the arms of the delightfully villainous SHODAN.”

System Shock will release on 30 May for PC via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store. Pre-orders on PC will also bag you System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. A PlayStation and Xbox release date for System Shock will be announced at a later date.
