We have finally got a hint as to what the spiritual successor to the Clock Tower series will look like with Night Cry via some all new screenshots, and boy does it look moody. Apparently the game will take place on a cruise ship where the player must try their best to keep the protagonist out of harm’s way. If you haven’t realised yet, the game was originally being release for the PS Vita, iOS and Android devices.  But now it’s also on its way to PC.

Once we announced [Project Scissors], the fans’ reaction was basically, ‘Yeah, we’ve been waiting for this. Great. But is this only for Vita or only for mobile?’ There were a lot of disappointed voices,” Kono says.

“Early on, I was concerned about playing a horror game on a smaller screen,” says Kono. “Maybe a tablet would be different, but still it’s not a big screen. So yeah, I always wanted to bring it to the bigger screen. But at the same time, I had to think about the budget. That was one of the main factors; I had to limit it in order to keep it independent.

Polygon has even had some hands-on time with Night Cry, whose impressions you can read here. Kono and the team want to bring this experience to the PC too, but due to the expensive nature of its development, they have launched a Kickstarter campaign for which they need to raise at least $300,000 if they want to release the game on PC, so if you are a Clock Tower or horror fan please consider backing it as not only Kono, but true Japanese horror needs to make a comeback!
