Microsoft Further Detail Current to Next-Gen Smart Delivery Line-Up

Microsoft has spoken a lot about their Smart Delivery of titles as we edge closer to the next-gen Xbox Series X console.  Smart Delivery means that once you purchase a Smart Delivery enabled game on the current gen Xbox One or Xbox One X consoles, if you make the jump to the next-gen Xbox Series X at any point, you will get a free upgrade to any compatible game.  It doesn’t matter if you own the game digitally or physically on a disc, or even via Xbox Game Pass, all compatible games will receive the free next-gen upgrade.

All you need to do to receive the free next-gen upgrade, is to already own the game and then it’s just a simple press of the button to download the Smart Delivery update for that particular game.  The Smart Delivery will not only support First-Party Microsoft games, but also to Third-Party titles, should their respective publisher/developer take advantage of this feature.

On day one of the Xbox Series X launch, there will be a Smart Delivery update for Gears 5 and the highly anticipated Halo Infinite, while Third-Party titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 will also have a Day One update at no extra cost.  Microsoft has also detailed that your library and game progression will carry over from the current-gen to next-gen console.

Microsoft has revealed the list of Smart Delivery compatible games so far, with that list growing over time, you can check out the list so far below.  The Xbox Series X console will release Fall of this year.
