It goes without saying that medical professionals and carers from around the world are working tirelessly to help people get through the Coronavirus pandemic, while putting themselves and their loved ones at risk.  In recent weeks companies from around the world, both big and small have been offering the workers freebies, even if it makes life a little easier or offers even a slight distraction from the stresses in the world in which they work.

However, thanks to a campaign started by video games journalist Chris Scullion, with the aid of Ukie and Keymailer,  they have banded together some of the world’s biggest game publishers and indie developers such as EA, Sega, Xbox, Konami, Team 17, Bethesda, Codemasters, Media Molecule and much more.

In total, a whopping 85,000 games will be available to choose from for NHS workers in the UK, to be played by themselves and their families.  All NHS and carers have to do, is visit the Games for Carers website, and enter their name and NHS email address.  However, as you can imagine, there will be a lot of traffic on the website, and it has been known to crash.  But stick with it and you’ll get through eventually.  I think this is a fantastic gesture; not only to offer the workers a distraction, but also for their family members while their parents may be at work tackling the pandemic.

Thank you for all that you do and please, help the NHS by following the government’s guidelines.  The sooner we help each other and the NHS, the sooner we can get back to normal and enjoy that sunshine that has been taunting us while we’re stuck indoors.
