During a recent Q&A on the PlayStation Blog, head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst confirmed that the God of War sequel dubbed “Ragnarök” will launch in 2022.

I think most of us would have assumed that the God of War sequel wouldn’t end up releasing this year anyway, but at least now we have official confirmation.

Hulst said: “And for God of War, the project started a little later. So, we’ve made the decision to push that game out to next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game that we all want to play.

The news of the release window push back was also confirmed on Twitter by developers Santa Monica Studio.

We remain focused on delivering a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our team, creative partners, and families. With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window to 2022,” said Santa Monica in a tweet.

While we know for sure that the God of War sequel will absolutely release for the PS5, Hulst also hinted that it will also release on PS4.

What are your thoughts on the God of War sequel releasing in 2022? Let us know across our social media channels. Personally, I want the developers to take all the time they need.
