Sony Plans To Buy Square Enix Says “Multiple Sources”
According to “multiple sources,” Sony has plans to buy Square Enix, that’s at least according to Greg Miller.
As reported by Push Square, Miller claimed on the latest episode of the “PS I Love You” podcast that he has heard from multiple sources that “PlayStation was acquiring Square and I heard that from multiple different sources.”
However, Miller also stated that the rumours must be taken with a pinch of salt just in case there was confusion with the recent acquisition of Square Enix’s western studios. In case you didn’t know, Square Enix’s western studios such as Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal were acquired by THQ Nordic parent company, Embracer Group.
“Was it that Square was trying to sell their Western studios and that was the rumour?” said Miller. “Take everything with a grain of salt. That is what I’d heard, though, that PlayStation was trying to buy Square.”
That being said, considering that Sony and Square Enix have had a strong business relationship since the inception of the original PlayStation, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Final Fantasy publisher is bought-out.
