Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West are #PS4/#PS5 Cross-Gen

I sure I am not along in this one, but as much as I would love to own a PS5 at launch, it’s just not possible.  In fact, I’ll have to wait until early next year, assuming that consoles are well stocked at that time.

So with launch title Spider-Man: Miles Morales initially only being labelled as a PS5 title, that would have been a tortuous wait until I could get my hand on a PS5 console.  However, Sony has made a u-turn on making some games PS5 exclusive and to help fans missing out on titles, especially with the consoles being in high demand, they have decided to make certain exclusives cross-gen, releasing them on both PS4 and PS5.

One such game is Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which will not only be a launch title for PS5, but if you buy it on PS4 whether it’s physical or digital, you will get a free next-gen upgrade when you get your hands on a PS5 console.  Other confirmed Sony exclusives taking advantage of being cross-gen is Horizon Forbidden West and Sackboy A Big Adventure, and I’m sure more titles will be added at a later date.

For some reason, Sony has received criticism for going back on their word, but I think this is a great move, like I said, especially for PS4 owners who might not be able to get hold of a PS5 at launch, but are also excited to play games such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

At last night’s PlayStation event, we also got to see some stunning gameplay footage of Spider-Man: Miles Morales running on PS5, which can be found below, as well as some gorgeous screenshots in this article.  It has also been revealed that the Ultimate Edition of the PS5 game, will include a remastered Marvel’s Spider-Man with all previously released DLC.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release with the PS5 from November 12th.  Are you happy that Sony is making certain exclusives cross-gen?  Let us know across our social media channels.
