The Street Fighter brand is being used to recruit police officers in Japan, in particular in Osaka.  Posters featuring Ryu and Chun-Li (who’s character just so happens to be a police officer) are being used by the Osaka Prefectural Police in the hope to gain awareness across generations in the hope that it might spark interest to any would-be Bobbies.  In total there will be about 3000 flyers and 1000 posters being distributed around Osaka from today.

Capcom had this to say on the brand partnership: “Selected for the brand’s powerful image, its popularity among a broad range of age groups, and the affinity that eSports has with cyberspace, the characters will be featured in investigator recruiting advertisements with the aim of boosting awareness of and the number of investigators specialising in cyber-crime – a field that has seen a conspicuous rise in the number of incidents in recent years.

Japan as a nation are often known for thinking outside of the box and if this promotion helps to recruit some good and honest police officers, then fair play to them, especially if training involves the mastering of the Hadouken and the Spinning Bird Kick!
