In a surprise announcement at the Tokyo Game Show over the weekend, well, I say “surprise”, that’s if you ignore the fact that the Portuguese Netflix social media pages accidently released the announcement trailer prematurely, a Resident Evil animated series is coming to Netflix in 2021.

The animated series entitled Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will star series veterans Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, although official plot details have not yet been released.  However, we do know that this full 3DCG animated series will be produced by Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobabyashi, who has years of experience with the Resident Evil series, and will be joined by TMS Entertainment, who have also produced previous animated Resident Evil series’.  Finally, 3D animation studio Quebico, led by Kei Miyamoto (producer of Resident Evil: Vendetta) will be in charge of handling the production.

The CG series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be the second series in this franchise coming to Netflix, with a live-action series already announced, which follows the story of two Wesker twins.

Personally, I know they’re not universally loved, but I enjoyed the Resident Evil animated movies, certainly more-so then the live-action movies (which I know isn’t saying much).  Are you looking forward to Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness?  Let us know across our social media channels.
