Sega has announced two new Sonic games at its San Diego Comic-Con with a 25th anniversary party to celebrate everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog. The first game is Sonic Mania, a title that goes back to Sonics’ past with a title that re-imagines Sonics’ previous 2D endeavours, while the second is an untitled game that stars both classic and modern versions of Sonic in a new adventure against Eggman (likely to be a sequel to Sonic Generations!).

Sonic Mania is a 2D platformer that features visuals and gameplay that is reminiscent of the classic Genesis games. The title is a blast from the past with all the zones and acts are taken from Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CDSonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic & Knuckles, in addition to introducing new zones and acts into the mix.

Sonic Mania has been a passion project for the entire team and we look forward to sharing more details about it later this year. Having the game actually playable at the event itself tonight was testament to the dedication of the team behind it.
