According to reports from CNBC, AT&T is looking to sell their Warner Bros gaming division for a cool valuation of $4 billion.  It is said that AT&T have suffered a large loss in revenue of late, likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to sell the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment division, which has a rich library of money-making franchises, is a quick way to recoup some of that loss.

Some of the WB licenses and studios includes Batman Arkham (Rocksteady Studios), Mortal Kombat (NetherRealm Studios), the Lego franchise (TT Games), Shadow of Mordor/War (Monolith Productions), Harry Potter, to name but a few.  It is expected that if AT&T do sell up, big publishers such as Electronic Arts, Take-Two and Activision Blizzard are among those ready to bid.  What this means for certain licenses remains to be seen, but it is likely games that are already in development should be fine.

Do you think of this potential sale as good news or bad news?  Or perhaps considering those rumoured to bid, you might think it will make little difference?  Share your thoughts across our social media channels.
