Christophe Gans, the director of the 2006 Silent Hill movie, has announced he’s working on a new Silent Hill.  Gans didn’t give too many details away, so whether this will be a reboot or a continuation of the second movie from 2012, remains to be seen.  However, Gans did say on the new Silent Hill movie “We’re also working on a new Silent Hill.  The project will always be anchored in this atmosphere of a small America town, ravaged by Puritanism.  I think it’s time to make a new one.

Gans, who will be working with Victor Hadida (who was the producer of the previous two Silent Hill movies) also revealed that they will also be working on a Project Zero movie (or Fatal Frame as it’s known in the U.S), this is something that I’ve personally waited years for a Western adaptation, as I love the ghostly video game series.  Gans added in regard to the Project Zero movie that it will be staying true to its source material “The film will take place in Japan. I especially don’t want to uproot the game from its Japanese haunted house setting.”  However, there is already a Japanese Fatal Frame movie from 2014, something that I knew nothing about, until I just researched for this article.  So I’ll be watching that as soon as humanly possible.

I know movies based upon video games often suck, but I quite liked the Silent Hill movies and if done right, the Western Fatal Frame movie has all the potential to be a great adaptation, but we shall see.  We have no idea as to when either of these movies will release, but I would guess at them being at least two years away.
