Blazblue: Continuum Shift comes to handhelds with even more content.

Blazblue style attacks

The second instalment in Arc System Works’ anime style fighting series is being released for the 3DS and the PSP in Japan on March 31st and the rest of the world is still to be announced. The title of “Blazblue: Continuum Shift II” comes from the arcade revision of the game which includes balance changes to the characters and cosmetic fixes such as a new announcer. Bigger changes come from the character roster.

New Characters

All characters that have been available as DLC for the original PS3 and 360 versions will be available from the start as well the final boss that was unlocked through Continuum Shift’s story mode Mu-12. These include:

Makoto Nanaya: The "interestingly" dressed squirrel girl from NOL

Valkenhayn R. Hellsing: Rachel Aucard's werewolf butler

Platinum the Trinity: The magical girl with several personalities

New Modes

Unlike the arcade revision the hand-held version will feature new modes as well. There will also be at least two new stories in story mode to be played written by the producer Toshimichi Mori. Most likely being stories for Makoto and Valkenhayn, as they were the first two characters released as DLC, so players will be able to know their roles better in the events of the game. Not to mention being able to see a comedy segment from both new stories too if the player takes the non cannon route through the story mode.

Aside from the additional characters stories there is also an “Abyss Mode” that plays like a dungeon RPG mode fighting enemies and gaining power ups as you fight your way down to the depths of the city of Kagatsuchi. The 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi being the main setting in Blazblue. If you die you will have to retry the dungeon from scratch.

New Opening Animation

If people are a fan of the Blazblue openings thus far the new one including the DLC characters will not disappoint with an anime style more like Blazblue: Calamity Trigger than Continuum Shift’s abstract opening. Complete with Japanese pop music of course. That can be seen below with added subtitles for the song  just like watching an anime opening.

For all the information so far summed up in a video format with Japanese text look no further than the additional video below.
