You’re a young Pokémon trainer in the Kalos region and you want to enter the Pokemon league- What do you do? Well, like in the regions of Kanto, Hoenn, Johto, Sinnoh, and Unova  you collect 8 Gym Badges from cities across the region in order to enter. Furthermore, you raise 6 Pokemon of different species in order to battle Kalos’ Elite Four. That is the way of things in the world of Pokémon, and Pokémon X & Y are no exception. After the Pokémon activity this week at E3 2013, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced even more details this morning about the Pokémon X  and Pokémon Y Nintendo 3DS games.

At the beginning of the game, after character selection is done, the player will enter Vaniville Town. Like Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, the player will have just moved to the town at the beginning of the game, as opposed to other generations where they lived in the starting city their whole lives. The first gym that the player will enter is in Santalune City, and its Gym Leader is Viola. In this fight, players will face off against the first fairy type Pokémon.  Fairy-type Pokémon will join ice-type Pokémon as one of the few weaknesses of dargon-type Pokémon.

Pokémon X&Y are due to be released on October 12, 2013 to the Nintendo 3DS. It stars 3D Pokemon battles, new characters and a new region, as well as new Pokémon. Furthermore, it gives the player 3 new friends/rivals that will journey across the Kalos with the player: Shauna,  Tierno, Trevor, and Serena or Calem depending on the character’s gender.

The newest generation of Pokemon games looks poised to continue the momentum built up by Pokémon Black and White, & Pokémon Black II and White II.
