Creative Announces the SXFI Carrier Soundbar #CES2020

Creative, the ‘creators’ of some quite fantastic audio technology has been on a roll at CES 2020 this week.  First they announced the Fi Gen2 profile, an evolution of the Super X-Fi profile, which is audio software that customises your Creative technology to your tailored needs, but also the SXFI Gamer Headphone (details here).

Well, Creative has just announced another piece of fancy kit with the Creative SXFI Carrier Soundbar.  A wireless, state of the art soundbar which has not only been developed by Creative, but also by Dolby, which is a seal of quality in its own right.

The SXFI Carrier will be 880mm in length is based upon a custom Dolby Atmos design, which is a first of its kind DASS soundbar.  It will have bluetooth connectivity, feature both USB-C and USB-A ports, a HDMI eARC port for uncompressed and lossless HD audio, and two HDMI 2.1 inputs which will result in “rich sound and high-resolution picture quality to pass through from an 8K video source.”  And of that wasn’t enough temptation for you, then the SXFI Carrier also comes with a mighty 10” wireless subwoofer.

Mahesh Balakrishnan, Vice President of Dolby Laboratories had this to say on this collaboration with Creative “We are thrilled to have partnered with Creative to bring this first-of-its-kind sound bar experience to consumers around the world,”.  Balakrishnan added “Consumers will be able to enjoy a breathtaking Dolby Atmos experience through an innovative acoustic design developed by Dolby, which is unheard of from such a small compact form factor.”

Finally, Sim Wong Hoo, CEO of Creative followed-up with his own statement on this announcement “The SXFI CARRIER is the result of a defining collaboration between Dolby and ourselves, which has broken through so many boundaries and realized so many possibilities of what a compact soundbar can achieve, which of course was only possible with the full dedication and commitment from both teams. With this, SXFI CARRIER is able to achieve the same audio signature as the Sonic Carrier, at half the size and at a fraction of the price. Moreover, with Super X-Fi Headphone Holography, users can enjoy the definitive Dolby Atmos experience through headphones as well,”

At this time we have no word on pricing for the SXFI Carrier from Creative, but I’m sure it will be pricey, you can register your interest for when pre-orders go live here.
