It was heavily believed that Microsoft initially wanted to release the Xbox One as a disc-less console, going digital only.  However, according to tech website Thurrott, they claim that their sources say that Microsoft are planning to release a disc-less Xbox One console during Spring of 2019.

If these rumours are true, the cost of this disc-less console could be considerably cheaper than the models available now.  According to Thurrott, the cost of this console would be around the $100, which is about £78 in the UK.  If true, the value of this console is difficult to argue against, especially if you share an Xbox Live account with a family or friend, which can see you split the cost of digital games 50/50.

Also to add further value to these rumours is that the sources claim that Microsoft will be offering a “disc-to-digital” program which will allow customers to essentially trade in their physical games in return for digital games at participating retailers.  So again if true, it will be interesting to see how exactly that will work.
