Microsoft has announced that xCloud, the cloud gaming streaming service which makes Xbox One games playable on mobile devices and tablets will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers at no extra cost, once it leaves its preview state.

From this September, xCloud will be included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, though sadly it won’t be included in the basic version.  However, whichever version of Game Pass you subscribe too, both offer great value for money, which includes first party Xbox exclusives on launch (not that there’s many Xbox “exclusives” nowadays).  But still, at £7.99 for the basic sub, which includes 100’s of games to download or £10.99 for the Ultimate which includes Xbox Live Gold, being able to play games on the PC version of Game Pass, plus DLC benefits and now xCloud, it really is great value for your money.

I’ve been playing testing out xCloud in its preview state and I can tell you that it works very well.  I recently played Gears 5 on my mobile, and not only did it look great, but it ran super smooth and it also carries over your progression, so that you can carry on where you left off.

With the release of the next-gen Xbox Series X arriving later this year, it could be make or break for Microsoft’s console.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my Xbox One, but its lack of exclusives has hit this generation hard and is way behind the likes of the PS4.  However, with Microsoft acquiring loads of talented development studios, not to mention offering the Xbox Game Pass service, Microsoft seem to be doing all they can to put-up more of a fight in the next-gen console war.
