Update 3 – 26/11/17: Pokémon Go has now reached the Gold tier milestone with 3 billion catches worldwide, which means that Farfetch’d is now available globally with Kangaskhan being available in East Asia (as well as the Bronze and Silver tier rewards).

Update 2 – 23/11/17: The Silver tier milestone has now been achieved, which means that double Stardust has now been added to Bronze tier rewards.  So now we’re just over halfway into unlocking the Gold Tier, which will mean that Farfetch’d will be available globally and Kangaskhan in East Asia.

Update 1- 21/11/17: In less than 24 hours, the Bronze milestone has already been reached, as confirmed via the official Pokémon Go Twitter account, which means that we’ve now unlocked 6 hour lures and double XP.

Original Story: 20/11/2017: Niantic has launched a Pokémon GoGlobal Catch Challenge’ starting from today and running until Sunday, November 26th.  The event will require Pokémon Go players to reach 3 billion Pokémon catches combined worldwide, which will result in the Japan exclusive creature Farfetch’d being available globally.  If the 3 billion milestone is reached, Farfetch’d will only be available for 48 hours and in return, Australia exclusive create Kangaskhan will be available in the Land of the Rising Sun, also for 48 hours.

However, while these rare Pokémon will only be available for 48 hours, the event itself won’t end until December 1st, as you may also be able to earn double XP, double stardust and more Pokémon will appear in the wild globally, as long as you reach the Bronze, Silver and Gold tier milestones.  Details on the milestone rewards can be seen via the image above.
