Despite its acclaimed status, it does come as a bit of a surprise that the Amnesia Series is, ten years after the original Dark Descent, receiving a sequel.
I say this as the indirect sequel, Machine for Pigs, wasn’t received as well as you might expect, and Frictional Games have gone on to create a unique IP of similar makeup in Soma.
Not that this is by any means bad news, and if the trailer is anything to go by this should be a creepy delight.
This time we are playing as new character Tasi Trianon. Set in the Algerian desert, the game teases that she must “journey through devastation and despair…while exploring the limits of human resilience”.
“You can’t let out a breath. The creature is only inches away. Its sole purpose – to feed off your terror. And so you crouch in the dark, trying to stop the fear rising, trying to silence what lies within you.”

Clearly it’s not revealing much just yet, as you would hope for a game like this which will undoubtedly rely on a haunting mystery.
The game is releasing much sooner than expected as well, already with a release date of Autumn 2020.
You can watch the trailer below, and look forward to its release on PC and PS4.
