According to a recent rumour, Capcom has plans to reboot the action-horror series, Dead Rising.

Released in 2006 for the Xbox 360 and inspired by George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, Dead Rising was considered to be a true next-gen title boasting 100s of zombies on a single screen.

While it had its flaws, and the gameplay hasn’t aged all that well, Dead Rising is considered to be a cult classic of yesteryear. It also spawned a decent sequel in 2011, followed by the spin-off, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

In 2013, we had Dead Rising 3 for PC and Xbox One, followed by Dead Rising 4 in 2016 for PC and Xbox One, which later resulted in a PS4 port the following year. However, for better or worse, especially with the latter instalments, this series’ spark dwindled with each release and fans have been keen for it to return back to its best.

In relation to the rumours, Windows Central editor Jez Corden was responding to a fan on Twitter and teased that Capcom might have plans to reboot Dead Rising. Corden later stated that platforms haven’t been confirmed, however, his sources have provided nothing concrete. So it’s mere hearsay at this time.

Hopefully, we’ll see the return of Dead Rising with Frank West, and I’d love to see a series reboot take us back to Willamette Mall. I’ll keep you posted if I hear of any further developments.
