Creative Announces Super X-Fi Wireless Headphones Promises “Audio like a Real Cinema”

Creative Technology, the creators of the fantastic Outlier Air Wireless Ear Buds and the Super X-Fi Headphone Amp has just announced their latest premium headset which promises “audio like a real cinema”.  Now that alone is a bold statement, but if any audio technology company can replicate that kind of sound quality, then it’s probably Creative.

The Super X-Fi Wireless Headphones aka the SXFI Theater features technology that combines the Super X-Fi Headphone Amp into a headset that not only promises supreme audio quality, but also a low-latency audio transmission and offers up-to 30 hours of battery life.  The low-latency technology is becoming a regular feature in top-end headsets and that’s great, because it offers around 5x less latency than a standard bluetooth transmission, which brings a much higher standard of audio and video sync.

The headset will be wireless via the USB dongle provided with a distance of up-to 10m and also comes with a 1.2m USB cable.  I recently reviewed the brilliant low-latency Sennheiser GSP 670, but that was purely wireless, with no USB connection, which was its only downfall in my opinion.

In terms of replicating a cinema like audio experience, this is all done through the Super X-Fi and is said to recreate “the soundstage of a multi-speaker surround system that can rival a real cinema” and much like the Super X-Fi Amp, it is also compatible with an app that scans yours ears and head, to give you a more customised experience.

The SXFI Theater is compatible with PC, Mac, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, and also comes with a detachable microphone making it perfect for online gaming or of course listening to your favourite movies and music.  The SXFI Theater has an RRP of £189.99 (inc VAT) which isn’t a bad price at all for a premium wireless headset with features that this fancy bit of kit brings to the table.
