Criterion Games, the developers of the Burnout series, would “love” to make a new game.

Nowadays, Criterion is focused on the Need for Speed series for Electronic Arts. Before Criterion was bought out by EA in 2004, the Burnout series was on a much smaller scale. However, the series later blended elements of both classic Burnout and Need for Speed.

Truth be told, I much preferred the linear arcade action of the Burnout series from the first two games pre-2004. However, during an interview with Eurogamer, the creative director of Need for Speed Unbound, Kieran Crimmins said that he’d love to return to the Burnout series one day.

It’s not something we’re looking at doing now, but if you’re talking about the two games that the studio has the most passion for, they’re obviously Need for Speed and Burnout.

Crimmins went on to say that Burnout offered a “unique take on racing” and it would be “absolutely phenomenal” in the modern generation. He added: “So I guess what I’m saying is, I would love to do that.
