Following on from last week’s fourth episode of Dying 2 Know, Dying Light 2 composer talks about making music for the post-apocalyptic, open-world zombie horror.

Oliver Derivière, composer of Streets of Rage 4 and A Plague Tale: Innocence will be working his acoustic magic once more in the highly anticipated sequel.

In particular, Derivière talks about the inspiration behind the custom-made instrument used in Dying Light 2’s main theme “Run, Jump, Fight”.

The music of Dying Light 2 was composed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with an Orchestra to record the soundtrack. The creative director of Dying Light 2 Adrian “Pyza” Ciszewski spoke about the importance of music for the game.

It supports narrative by generating nostalgia in certain moments, encourages bravery in battles by adding to the adrenaline with the right tunes, and energizes the player, pushing them to try harder as they parkour through The City,” said Ciszewski. “This close collaboration between us has led to the sound developing in line with our artistic vision of what we’re going to see on the screen and blending in with it perfectly. It was an ambitious project, yes, but we had a lot of fun, and seeing the end result has definitely made it worth the effort.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on February 4th, 2022. A cloud version will also be released for the Nintendo Switch in select regions.
