Techland has announced that Dying Light 2: Stay Human has once again been delayed, this time into 2022.

Since it was revealed at E3 2019, Dying Light 2 has suffered a few delays, including an absence so long that many feared the game had been cancelled. Alas, Dying Light 2 hadn’t been cancelled as Techland have been quite active this year revealing lots of juicy details.

Admittedly, due to Techland’s activity, I was a little naive in thinking that Dying Light 2 would get no more delays and would release on its then-new release date of December 7th, 2021. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Thankfully, however, the delay has only pushed the game back by a couple of months to February 4th, 2022. The reason for the delay was to give the game extra polish.

Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka admitted that the game was practically complete, it just needed some extra fine-tuning, so to speak. “The team is steadily progressing with the production and the game is nearing the finish line. The game is complete, and we are currently playtesting it,” said Marchewka.

The CEO continued: “It is by far the biggest and the most ambitious project we’ve ever done. Unfortunately, we’ve realized for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimize it.

Techland followed up with a tweet thanking fans for their patience and that they are proud of the game they are making.

Personally, as much I was looking forward to Dying Light 2 releasing this year, it is what it is. I would much prefer a game to release in the best state possible, rather than being rushed out of the oven.
