Following on from this year’s disappointing EGX 2021, it has been announced that EGX will be coming to both London and Birmingham next year.

Firstly, I must address this year’s EGX. It was disappointing. It lacked major AAA titles. From what I could see, the only ones at the show were Back 4 Blood, Deathloop (which has been out for weeks), and Crysis: Remastered Trilogy.

There was an EGX Rezzed section with some indie darlings. However, there were not that many at the show and the ones that were, most only had one pod set up for each game. So, you would have to wait a little longer than you may have hoped. Merch stands were also at a bare minimum.

There was the cosplay show, the Eurogamer crew and Oxventure doing their thing, as well as career guidance facilities. But overall, it was a disappointing show. You would probably see all there was to see within an hour or two. Granted, COVID-19 would have certainly played its part in the show’s preparations, but still, I expected much more. Hopefully, EGX will pick up its game for next year and it will return to being the show it once was.

Now that is out of the way, let’s talk about next year. EGX will be returning with two shows next year in the two capital cities of England. Firstly, EGX will be in Birmingham from March 3rd to the 5th. Then it will be in London from September 22nd to the 25th. Both shows will be in partnership with Virgin Media.

At each show, there will hopefully be major AAA publishers and plenty of indie goodness to go around for everyone. In the press release, it claims that EGX will be: “expanding the Rezzed Zone, with all the beloved indie games that EGX Rezzed traditionally delivers but will also meet the need for AAA publishers to showcase spring releases.”

Furthermore, there will most certainly be the EGX Theatre, Rezzed Sessions, EGX Arena, GI Academy Zone, Console Corner, Cosplay Zone, and more (hopefully).
