Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Introduces Buy-To-Play Model & Console Release Date Announced

After many months of rumours and opinions of how Bethesda should be running their subscription-based Elder Scrolls game, it seems some peoples’ comments on the game have come to truth. As Elder Scrolls Online will be re-branding itself as Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited and introducing a new Buy-to-Play model, removing their monthly subscription base. This method will arrive on scene for the PC on the 17th March 2015, with the eagerly awaited ESO console release (PS4/Xbox One) arriving on 9th June.

 

Tamriel Unlimited will include all features of the game, plus updates and content additions; along with the new Justice and Champion systems. All current PC and Mac game accounts will be updated automatically when it is released. From then on, all new players will only be required to purchase the game to play. This system will be accompanied by an in-game “Crown” store that will offer content for “convenience” and customisation items. We are assured that regular and new content will be offered to all players.

Bethesda have also announced ESO Plus, which will offer a different service to players that want to subscribe to support the game. This will involve a single monthly charge and will provide in-game bonuses, a monthly income of Crowns and access to all DLC game packs. Any PC or Mac player with an active account on the 17th March will automatically be upgraded to ESO Plus and the membership benefits.

The game offers hundreds of hours of gameplay with unlimited adventures with one single game purchase. We can’t wait for everyone, whether they’ve played before or will be experiencing it for the first time, to begin adventuring in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
