Developers Nightdive Studios has released a video of the remastered Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, but for better or worse, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this remastered footage.  The video in question is the opening cinematic for the point & click cult classic, which released way back in 1997.  It might be fair to say that the game hasn’t aged quite as well as Ridley Scott’s classic movie from 1982.

However, to be fair, visuals are not everything, especially when considering the point & click genre, which is often more so about the story and its immersion.  The comparison video below shows the original 1997 footage at a screen resolution of 640×480, running at 15fps.  While the remastered version is at a 4K resolution, running at 60fps.

While I can see the improvements in the remaster, such as having more visual clarity and improved anti-aliasing, but despite it running at 60fps, the animations still look a little choppy at times.  Some might be put off that the visuals haven’t been improved all that much with new textures and animations, but some might prefer that the developers handling the remaster, have remained true to the original.

You can watch the comparison video for yourself below and be sure to let us know your thoughts across our social media channels.  Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is expected to release this year for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
