Free DOOM Eternal Update 1 Available Now, Adds New Demons and More!

Update 1 is now available for DOOM Eternal and with it comes additions to Battlemode, new demons to invade other player’s campaigns, new content to earn though progression via its various modes, quality of life improvements and more.

Firstly we have Empowered Demons to invade other player’s campaigns.  With the Empowered Demons you can jump from one campaign to another causing havoc and once you eliminate a host, you’ll jump to the next campaign, growing stronger with each and your run won’t stop until you’re stopped.  Naturally with each successful jump, you’ll earn in-game rewards such as bonus XP, and so too will the player that puts you down.  This feature can be toggled on and off, so you don’t have to have invading players and vice versa, if you don’t want too.

You’ll also be able to earn new in-game rewards via the Event Series 3 such as the MC Pain Master Collection, which kits out Slayer in new cosmetics as well as enemies such as a cool Run DMC inspired attire for Pain Elemental.

Quality of life improvements will be made to both the singleplayer campaign and Battlemode.  In the singleplayer campaign, in-game tutorials will be expanded upon; you’ll also be able to dash vertically in water and the toxic damage while swimming will be reduced.  In Battlemode, you will now receive a death report so that you know which players have killed you, Prestige stars will appear under your Player Card, tutorials will appear in Battlemode for the first time and there will be a new Echelon rank taking the Doom Level to 250.  Latency and lag issues during Battlemode have also been addressed.

On PC, the update also includes the Denuvo Anti-Cheat software, which aims to combat any cheating players that you might encounter online.  Though there are some players that are not happy with this software, as it appears that its not all that reliable and at the time of writing, it doesn’t give players much flexibility if they choose not to have the software, as there seems to be a lot that doesn’t want the Denuvo Anti-Cheat software on their PC’s.
