Gears of War is getting a card game adaptation

Legendary Xbox franchise, Gears of War is getting an officially licensed card game adaptation from Steamforged Games.
In case you didn’t know, UK-based Steamforged Games is a popular board creator that has a great knack for adapting video games to the tabletop, as well as card games. Previously, Steamforged has adapted the likes of Resident Evil, Horizon Zero Dawn, Devil May Cry, Elden Ring and more.

The company has dabbled in video game-inspired card games too, including Dark Souls, Sonic the Hedgehog and Pac-Man. So you should be pleased to know that the Gears of War licence is in good hands.
At this time we don’t know much about Gear of War: The Card Game, other than it will be released this year. What’s more, judging by the announcement tweet, it won’t be going the Kickstarter route.

This isn’t the first time that Gears of War has had a similar adaptation. In 2011, Fantasy Flight Games released an awesome tabletop adaptation. Sadly, that game is long out of print. So if some would like to re-release that game or bring us a new one entirely, we’d very much appreciate it.
