Here’s A New Features Trailer For WWE 2K22 And It Looks Good!
2K has released an unexpectedly early trailer for WWE 2K22 and dare I say it, it looks good.
Initially, we weren’t supposed to see the new trailer until January, but developers Visual Concepts say that they “couldn’t resist,” so here it is.
The trailer not only shows some quite impressive looking gameplay but some of the new features, modes and gameplay tweaks were revealed. Though the hair still looks dodgy, something that has bothered me with this series for years. Not to mention that some of the likenesses in the trailer looks a bit off, in particular Drew McIntyre.

That being said, overall, visually it looks like a vast improvement and some of the new (or returning) modes look to be quite fun. In the trailer, we see a reworked control scheme. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of this series mixing up the controls with almost every release. But until we play the game, we won’t know if it’s any better or not.
In terms of controls X, A and B perform light/heavy attacks and grapple on Xbox. So that will be Cross, Square and Circle on PlayStation. The Y (Triangle) button is used for reversals and blocks when held. The dodge button has been remapped to RB (R1).
The trailer also revealed that the Showcase will return, and it will be dedicated to luchador legend, Rey Mysterio as you playthrough his illustrious career. We also learn that MyGM mode is returning, a favourite feature on Xavier Woods’ gaming channel, Up, Up, Down, Down.
WWE 2K22 will also feature MyFaction (aka create your own stable), MyRise (create a custom character and climb through the WWE ranks) and finally Universe Mode, a calendar campaign playing through TV shows and PPVs as you please. There will no doubt be more modes and features to be revealed in January.
