While we never got any length new gameplay for Resident Evil Village revealed at the Tokyo Game Show over the weekend, we did at least get a quite interesting developer diary-style video from the creators of the game.

In this Developer Insights video we hear from Director Morimasa Sata, Art Director Tomonori Takano and Producer Peter Fabiano.  They not only talk about the village location and what it brings to the immersion of the story, but also of how the faceless protagonist of RE7, Ethan Winters will develop more of a character in this sequel.  We do also get a small snippet of new gameplay, featuring what looks to be the inside of a mansion that we’ve had a glimpse of in previous trailers.

In related Resident Evil Village news, Producer Tsuyoshi Konda has revealed that Capcom will look into bringing the game to PS4 and Xbox One.  However, he did also state that “Resident Evil Village is being developed specifically for the next-generation consoles and PC”, but he added “We’re looking into it, but we can’t make any promises.”  In my personal opinion, while it would be great to see RE Village release on both generations, I wouldn’t want it to be at the expense at the quality of the next-gen release.  But ss they say, “don’t go holding your breath”.

Resident Evil Village is currently set to release for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
