Here’s Our First Proper Look at Cross-Gen Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Activision and Treyarch have released details, as well as two videos that provide us with the first look at the Zombies mode to feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. By now, if you’re familiar with the Call of Duty franchise, then you’ll be familiar with the concept of Zombies. It’s a popular waved-based co-op mode, which has you gunning down hordes of zombies, while trying to complete objectives. Over the years, the Zombies modes have also evolved in terms of story-telling and are pretty much their own campaigns at this point.
The Zombies mode in Black Ops Cold War will feature pretty much what we know and love from the spin-off, but it seems that the developers are trying to really freshen up the mode this year, while retaining what already works. The story of Zombies in Black Ops Cold War will take us back to where it all began with the Nacht der Untoten map, and in a mission led by CIA agent Grigori Weaver, who featured in the original Black Ops, it seems that he has uncovered something more sinister then he could ever have imagined, an evil that must not be unleashed upon our world. However, Weaver is joined by a rival Soviet-led division, known as Omega Group, whose conflict of interest must be put aside in order to survive.
In recent years, I haven’t played much of Zombies to be honest, not because I don’t enjoy the game, but ever since we moved into the PS4 and Xbox One era, my friends that I used to play with on Xbox 360, stuck with the Xbox brand, where most of my gaming was on the PlayStation brand, which was a shame and I’m sure I wasn’t alone in that factor. However now, just like the other multiplayer modes of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the Zombies mode will be cross-platform, and not only will it be cross-platform, but it will also be cross-gen. Meaning that whether you play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, we can all play Zombies together! So it looks like my band might be getting back together.
