I think it’s fair to say that the most recent (at the time of writing) next-gen showcase from Inside Xbox was a little bit of a letdown, as we never got to see all that much actual Xbox Series X gameplay as we were promised.

However, one of the few highlights of that show for me was the reveal of DiRT 5.  Granted the reveal was in-game engine footage, rather than proper gameplay, but Codemasters have earned enough trust from me over the years to get excited.

The release of DiRT 5 won’t arrive until the end of the year and no doubt, we’ll see some proper gameplay soon enough, but in the meantime, Codemasters will be releasing a series of developer diary videos, with the first just being released.  In this developer diary to kick things off, we hear how having two development teams under Codemasters will greatly benefit DiRT 5 and they let us know why arcade and simulation racing fans should be excited for its release.

You can watch the first DiRT 5 developer diary video below.  DiRT 5 will release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X from October this year, and then for Google Stadia early 2021.
