Both Resident Evil 7 and the fantastic Resident Evil 2 remake saw quite a generous offering of post-launch DLC, some paid for and some for free.  The Resident Evil 2 remake saw the most generous post-launch content with the Ghost Survivors, a series of survival “what if?” scenarios featuring characters that perhaps didn’t bode too well in its main campaign.

So we’d be forgiving in thinking that the Resident Evil 3 remake would also get some post-launch DLC treatment, whether it’s free or paid for content.  Sadly however, that doesn’t seem to be the case, that’s according to Peter Fabiano, the Senior Manager of the Global Research & Development at Capcom, who also worked as a producer of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes.  Oh and as a fun fact, he also cameo’s as Peter Walken in Sewer Gators in Resident Evil 7.

When speaking to Siliconera, Fabiano was quizzed about the possibility of Resident Evil 3 receiving some post-launch DLC, but he stated that RE3 is “a finished product” and will not be getting any add-on content, which is a shame.  It would have been great to see story expansions for Marvin Branagh and/or Brad Vickers.  In the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, I loved its Mercenaries mode, so it would have been awesome to see that come back if nothing else.

Of course, you can never say never as it wouldn’t be the first time that a publisher or developer has said a game will get no DLC, and then somewhere down the line it has and its happened in the Resident Evil series, so we still can’t rule out the possibility, I just wouldn’t go holding your breath.

However, series spin-off that came bundled with the RE3 remake, asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil: Resistance has already been regularly supported and it will continue to do so for the immediate future.  It’s not my cup of tea for sure, but I’ve actually heard some good things about it, so I might just give it another chance.

Are you disappointed at the prospect of the Resident Evil 3 remake not getting any post-launch content, given how short the game is and lacking in content compared to the RE2 remake?  Let us know across our social media channels.
