It Seems Mass Effect Legendary Edition Will Release this March

According to a couple of retail listings the Mass Effect Legendary Edition will release on March 12th.

The release date appeared on two retail websites such as Singapore retailer Shopitree and Indonesian retailer GSSHop, both of which share the same release date, as shared by Idle Sloth on Twitter.

At this time this release date is not officially confirmed by EA, but as they say there’s “no smoke without fire” and if this release date is incorrect, it’s still likely to be around the same ballpark.

Despite being announced back in November, we’re still yet to see any gameplay footage of the original trilogy that features in the Legendary Edition.

All we’ve had so far is the teaser trailer and the information that the Legendary Edition will feature updated “textures, shaders, models, effects and technical features“, bundled with all single player DLC and remastered in 4K.  However Mass Effect 3 will not include its wave-based multiplayer.

Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernise the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form,” said BioWare chief at the time of the announcement, Casey Hudson.

Hopefully now that this apparent release date is out in the wild, both EA and BioWare will confirm a release date soon and give us some gameplay footage while they’re at it.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, it will also be optimised for new-gen consoles later in the year.
