Yakuza series favourite Kiryu Kazuma returns in a brand-new game from SEGA and RGG Studio.

The tongue-twisting Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name takes place after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, leading up to the recently announced Like a Dragon 8, the sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Oh, SEGA and RGG Studio have ditched the “Yakuza” name and going forward, as with Like a Dragon: Ishin, the franchise umbrella will be referred to as “Like a Dragon”.

Like a Dragon Gaiden was announced with a trailer featuring Kiryu trying to meditate before he was rudely interrupted more than once. Despite seemingly renouncing his name, Kiryu can’t help but be pulled back into the Yakuza way of life. The trailer also reveals that Kiryu still has attachments to the Daidoji family from Yakuza 6.

Like a Dragon Gaiden is said to be of a smaller scale than other games in the Yakuza series, but will still be an action-adventure RPG featuring the same fun combat in previous games starring Kiryu.

This week it’s been a great week for Yakuza fans with the announcement of Like a Dragon: Ishin (a remake of 2014s Yakuza: Ishin). Furthermore, we’ve also had a proper reveal of Like a Dragon 8, the sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

The Man Who Erased His Name will release in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Are you happy to see the return of Kiryu? Let us know across our social media channels.
