Loads of big Resident Evil rumours have leaked which reveals new details on Resident Evil: Village, a Collector’s Edition, Umbrella Chronicles and even Resident Evil 4!  The leaks come from apparent source code leaks from Capcom.

In fact it’s a very Capcom heavy related rumour mill because details have also leaked in regards to Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Ace Attorney and more!

First up let’s begin with Resident Evil: Village which is currently scheduled to release for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2021.

However according to the rumours posted on reddit, Resident Evil: Village will release April 2021.  Additionally as with RE7, as well as the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes a playable demo will also launch prior to the full release.

Capcom has also previously stated that they will explore the possibility of bringing RE: Village to PS4 and Xbox One, but made no promises.  However Capcom is expected to announce a now last-gen version soon.

It is also reported that Sony has paid Capcom $5 million USD for a number of RE: Village exclusive deals such as timed exclusive DLC, VR being exclusive to PSVR and even the rumoured playable demo to be exclusive to the PlayStation brand.

In related news it is also said that Google has paid Capcom $10 million USD to bring both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil: Village to Google Stadia.

Too little surprise Resident Evil: Village will also have a Collector’s Edition which includes a Chris Redfield statue similar to the designs of the CE’s for the RE2 and RE3 remakes which had status of Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine respectively.

The source code also hinted at Resident Evil: Village coming with a multiplayer mode which is apparently internally dubbed “Project Highway/Village Online”.  This is expected to be a battle royale mode, though I’d just be happy if Mercenaries returned.

Aside from Resident Evil: Village the leaked source code also revealed details on other Resident Evil related projects.  Such as Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles which originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2007.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles was an on-the-rails shooter which later got ported to the PS3 in 2012.  It also had a sequel, RE: The Darkside Chronicles.

The source code also mentioned Resident Evil 4 VR, so is there a chance that perhaps RE: The Umbrella Chronicles, The Darkside Chronicles and Resident Evil 4 might be coming to PSVR?

It’s not all just Resident Evil gossip that was mentioned in the source code because quite oddly so to was Devil May Cry 2.

Devil May Cry 2 originally released for the PS2 and was slammed by many critics and fans.  Sometime after its release it was said that DMC2 was rushed for its release and was only 70% complete by the time it launched.

So why does this source code mention DMC2?  Well much like this article it’s all speculation.  However seeing as we’ve already seen DMC2 release in various HD Collections and more recently for the Nintendo Switch, I would find it strange for it to receive yet another HD remaster.

Could the mention of Devil May Cry 2 hint at a remake or perhaps it will just be a remaster, but this time with the game being fully developed much like a Director’s Cut movie?

Other rumours coming from the alleged source code leak hints at an Ace Attorney Collection coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch.  But that is not all because we might even be getting a series coming to either Amazon Prime Video or Netflix.

Finally there is a mention of a Monster Hunter Rise coming to PC, as well as two unannounced projects currently codenamed “SHIELD” which is said to be a streamer friendly multiplayer game and the other dubbed “GUILLOTINE”.

Obviously as I have said already, these source code leaks are unconfirmed and pure speculation at this time, although the RE: Village Collector’s Edition seems quite legit.  However until it’s all confirmed we must take all rumours with a pinch of salt.
