Finally, some of the rumours were confirmed to be true as the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake was announced during PlayStation Showcase.

What’s more, a Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 was also announced which includes the original MGS (PS1), as well as MGS2: Sons of Liberty (PS2) and MGS3: Snake Eater (PS2), all likely with improved performance and HD visuals.

Moreover, with the title having ‘Vol.1’, it’s likely that other collections will also be released at some point. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 will be released this August on the “latest platforms”.

As for the MGS3 remake, we were treated to a gorgeous cinematic tease, sadly with no gameplay. IGN reported that the remake will feature original voices, so hopefully David Hayter will return as Snake. You can also check out some in-game screenshots below.

“We are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved instalments of the METAL GEAR series, revealing the origin story of Snake, as METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER,” said Konami in a statement. “We are working hard for METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.”

At this time, the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake does not have a release date, but it will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
