Mortal Kombat 1 has been announced by WB Games and NetherRealm Studios with a gloriously gory cinematic trailer.

As the heading of this article suggests, this latest entry of the long-running series is a reboot and judging by the trailer, Raiden has used his godly powers to reset the universe. In the trailer, he speaks of how we have a choice of peace or way. Well, with this being a Mortal Kombat game, war and bloodshed is inevitable.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Mortal Kombat 1 will not only have the beat em’ antics that fans of the series adore, but it will also see the return of a new story campaign as well as its “Iconic Heroes and Villains Reimagined as They’ve Never Been Seen Before.”

There will also be a beta with access being granted to those that pre-order the game, going live tomorrow 19 May. What’s more, those that pre-order MK1 will be granted the bonus Shang Tsung playable character. Furthermore, there will also be a Kombat Pack DLC which includes Jean-Claude Van Damme as a Johnny Cage skin.

Mortal Kombat 1 is currently scheduled to release on 19 September 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
