NBA Jam inspired Playgrounds out now, launch trailer released

NBA Playgrounds, the game inspired by the classic NBA Jam is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.  Developed by indie studio Saber Interactive, NBA Playgrounds brings back the old-school arcade-style of yesteryear with some epic 2-on-2 basketball action.

NBA Playgrounds features more than 30 licensed NBA teams with a packed roster of current and legendary NBA players including Allen Iverson, Lebron James, Shaquille O’Neal, James Harden, Magic Johnson and more, which you can level-up as your progress through its various modes.

The various modes include four player match types, online and offline, singleplayer and local co-op tournaments and online tournaments.  However, online play will be added at a later date via a free update.  We don’t have a date on that update at this time (though it is expected in the coming days).

NBA Playgrounds will also feature in-play power-ups, collectible cards, a hip-hop soundtrack and a lottery style reward system that rewards “great play”.  When I said that this game was inspired from the classic NBA Jam, I wasn’t kidding, as Ian Eagle makes a triumphant return to add key commentary, with “The Mayor” Johnson (the voice of Rucker Park) adding colour commentary.

To celebrate NBA Playgrounds release, a launch trailer and a small batch of screenshots have been released, which you can find below.  NBA Playgrounds is available now.
