New Resident Evil Village Gameplay, Cross-Gen and Release Date Revealed!

Comments Off on New Resident Evil Village Gameplay, Cross-Gen and Release Date Revealed!

At the Resident Evil Showcase we got a new look at the forthcoming Resident Evil Village and we got a release date too.

Firstly before we get on to the gameplay video, it was revealed that Resident Evil Village will be a cross-gen title coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

It will launch simultaneously across all platforms on May 7th worldwide.  Those who pick-up the last-gen version will also get a free new-gen upgrade.

Now let’s talk about the stunning gameplay footage and while it seemed to show a fair bit, it did not appear to spoil much, which is handy.

The gameplay details that Ethan is on the search for this daughter and it appears that just about everyone in the village knows who Ethan is (most of which want to kill him).

Ethan ventures into the castle, the home of the “Tall Vampire Lady” and her witches, who she refers to as her daughters.  We’ve also now learned that the tall lady is named Lady Dimitrescu.

In one scene the Lady Dimitrescu is also talking on the phone to someone called Miranda.  Is this Miranda calling the shots?

Ethan gets kidnapped by the daughters who seem to have a vampire-like ability when quickly travelling around the environment. But instead of turning into bats, they seem to turn into bees and are hunting Ethan, tormenting if you will and having fun while they’re at it.

The castle itself is very medieval filled with narrow corridors, torture devices and luxury rooms.  It seems that the upper part will be very easy on the eye but the lower dungeons are where it’s all dark and dingy.

In terms of creatures, in the dungeons of the castle we see ghoul-like zombie creatures and in the village we see the werewolf creatures accompanying that big Yeti thing with a giant mallet.

When talking to Ethan, Lady Dimitrescu refers to her brother not being able to deal with Ethan.  This brother could be the man we’ve seen before in the sun glasses who we see again, but this time he challenges Ethan to a fight to see what he’s made of.

Oh and we see a glimpse of Chris Redfield holding or quite possibly taking a baby.  Could this be Ethan’s daughter who he is in search of?

We also learn that RE Village will have an RE4 style inventory system, which also includes crafting and that rather large jolly dude that we saw in previous gameplay videos, well he’s the merchant and he’s called The Duke.  We’ll be able to buy and sell with The Duke and he’ll appear in certain locations in the game.

Other information that we learned is that there’ll be loads of weapons to discover and customise, we’ll have side-objectives and apparently they’ll be plenty of puzzles to take on.
