PES 2019 Announced New Gameplay Mechanics Detailed, Releases August

After a week or so of rumours, Konami has officially announced Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.  With the announcement came a teaser trailer, details on new gameplay mechanics, various editions available at launch and a release date.  Firstly PES 19 will release in the UK on August 30th and the 28th in North America for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Just last month it was revealed that the UEFA license used in the PES franchise has expired, leaving many fans a little worried about its future, especially having officially licensed tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League being a huge deal.  So it wouldn’t surprise me if EA snapped up that license for FIFA 19.

We still don’t know exactly what licenses PES 19 will feature; details are set to be released in the coming weeks.  However, Konami has stated that they will continue their “commitment to increase the number of licenses confirming; more fully licensed leagues and stadiums, more club licensed partnerships, and a host of new Legends that will be announced in the weeks to come.

Konami’s relationship with FC Barcelona will also continue with Philippe Countinho being this year’s cover star and an officially licensed David Beckham will feature for MyClub once more, who is being offered as one of the pre-order bonuses for PES 19.

It looks like PES’ answer to FIFA Ultimate Team will continue to get an overhaul as it aims to compete with EA’s highly successful dream team/loot box style offering.  This year’s MyClub will feature a new player card design which leads into “revolutionary changes to the way players build their squads.”  The mode will also have a higher emphasis on High Performance Players; i.e. your Ronaldo’s and Messi’s, as well as Legend Players and much like FUT, there will be Players of the Week with increased stats based upon recent real-world performances.

As always, the Master League will play a huge role in PES, which will now offer a new and improved “negotiation system, living menus and realistic transfers, elevating the mode to new heights.”  The Master League will this year feature the International Champions Cup (ICC), which is a high-profile pre-season tournament which see’s leading club teams from across the world from Europe, North and South America, and Asia to compete against one another.

In terms of gameplay, Konami take pride in their “famed superior gameplay” now being made even greater in PES 19, with more life-like animations and emotions, then ever before.  One of these new features is the Visible Fatigue, which is said to impact a player’s performance and behaviour during the match.  There will also be improved shooting mechanics, taking into account ball physics, as well as the positioning on the player and ball, new skills and shot styles.  Konami also say that hitting the back of the net will be even more satisfying with new net physics, player celebrations and crowd animations.

Not only is PES 19 said to play more beautifully, it’s expected to look more beautiful across the platforms with 4K HDR support, so expect PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements.  The lighting and shadow physics have also been improved upon with the real-time Global Illumination, which will make the action look more stunning on the pitch with the added real grass textures and the return of the snow weather effect.  PES 19 will also include a brand new menu interface, to make navigation all that more fluid.

Available at launch, whether you decide to pick PES 19 up digitally or physically, there will be number of editions on offer, such as the Legend Edition, David Beckham Edition and of course a standard edition (which still comes with DLC bonuses).  Details on all the available editions in your region can be found here.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 will release for PC, PS4 and Xbox One August 28th in North America and the 30th in the UK.
