At the State of Play, all the rumours were confirmed as the Resident Evil 4 Remake was announced. Happy days.

The trailer begins with Ashely seemingly running away, perhaps we’ll get to play the events before she was abducted by Sadler and co? Perhaps it’s a new segment taking place later in the game?

We also see the newer version of Leon from the Resident Evil 2 remake, including flashbacks of him in the Oval Office with the president. It would be nice to get additional cut-scenes offering some backstory of Leon and the president’s relationship, prior to him going on the mission to rescue Ashely.

The trailer itself looked to be darker, and grimmer than the original Resident Evil 4. I’m hoping that this remake will be slower paced, unlike the action-orientated original game. We also get a glimpse of what looks to be Luis, as well as Ada.

The official RE4 remake blurb reads: “Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game while introducing modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics to make this the latest survival horror game where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect.

There was no word of the RE Village DLC, so hopefully, that will be revealed at Summer Game Fest next week.
