The Resident Evil 4 remake will surely be amongst the strong contenders for the Game of the Year for 2023, in a year that is already looking to be very competitive to claim that honour.

Well received by critics and fans alike, Resident Evil 4 is also proving to be a commercial success following Capcom’s announcement that the remake has sold over five million copies since its launch on 24 March 2024. What’s more, the sales of RE4 have also pushed the entire series sales to over 142 million copies, as of 31 March 2023.

Capcom has already supported the RE4 remake with the highly addictive Mercenaries DLC for free and with the likes of RE4 for PSVR2, as well as the heavily rumoured ‘Separate Ways’ expansion on the way, no doubt that sales of this fantastic remake will continue to grow.

In my review of Resident Evil 4, I said that it: “not only a redefined horror, but it’s a remake that has once more asserted itself into the Mount Rushmore of video games. Yet again, Capcom has created one of the best games ever.”

Resident Evil 4 remake is out now for PC, PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S.
