Resident Evil 7 demo gets update, new trailer and various editions detailed

As hoped when Capcom teased something for this month’s Tokyo Game Show back in July, the playable demo for Resident Evil 7 has received an update.  Without giving too much away, the updated demo named “Twilight” will allow players to explore more of that creepy derelict mansion.  But the most mysterious question of the universe remains, will the finger of doom finally reveal all?

On top of the updated demo, which is currently available on the PSN Store, Capcom has also released an all-new gameplay trailer that takes a look at the disturbing Baker family, one of which we’ve already met in the initial playable demo.  The trailer also gives us a glimpse at some of the combat that will feature in the final game.

Additionally earlier in the week, following a leak, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 7 will have a number of pre-order DLC incentives.  Now Capcom has expanded on that, by announcing various digital editions of the game.  Details can be found below.

The standard edition of the game has an RRP of £49.99/€64.99 and will come with a custom PS4 theme.  The Day-1-Survival Edition has an RRP of £52.99/€69.99 and will come with the custom PS4 theme, the Survival Pack: Recovery Set and a “mysterious” Lucky Coin which is being described as a “defence item.”  Finally, the Deluxe Edition will have an RRP of £69.99/€94.99 and will have the Day-1 content and a season pass which will include three story episodes for the main game.

I’m now hoping that Capcom will announce a collector’s edition with a physical item.  Digital pre-orders for Steam and Xbox One will be made available in the coming weeks.

You can also checkout a batch of new screenshots below.  Resident Evil 7 will release for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on January 24th 2017.
