Grey Box, Six Foot and Tequila Works have announced a release date for their long awaited puzzle adventure game, RiME, as well as the game’s availability on Nintendo’s new Switch console.

Coming as both a physical and digital release, RiME is due on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on the 26th May, and will come shortly after for the Switch.

The game is described as a single-player puzzle adventure “about discovery, experienced through the eyes of a young boy who awakens on a mysterious island after shipwrecking off its coast”.

You must navigate the island and solve puzzles to discover its secrets, and boasting a colourful aesthetic and intriguing mystery, it’s one that’s been on our radar for a while.

A little surprising, however, is the retail price – hitting a high £29.99 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, and a peculiarly elevated £39.99 for the switch.

Not sure why the disparity in price, nor why it’s higher than expected. I’m not suggesting that RiME is necessarily a budget title, however its Indie leanings and quirky adventure make-up didn’t prepare me for how costly it would be. This may suggest there’s much more to than game than initially expected, however I’m sure this will also put some off, particularly if you want the game for your Switch.

Either way, at least RiME has a release date. It’s had a bumpy journey and I’m excited that it’s finally at completion.
