Sonic Mania gets a Flying Battery Zone gameplay featuring Knuckles

SEGA has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming 2D side-scrolling platformer, Sonic Mania, which features fan favourite Knuckles the Echidna gliding his way through the Flying Battery Zone level, one of the game’s returning levels from Sonic & Knuckles on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis.

Sonic Mania goes back to Sonics’ classic form and where a lot of Sonic fans would prefer Sonic to stay in his 2D form.  As you can tell from the screenshots and gameplay, Knuckles is back and he taking flight in the Flying Battery Zone.  Here’s a brief description of the game from SEGA:

Sonic Mania is the ultimate celebration of past and future, blending Genesis-era Sonic platforming with New Zones, Powerful Bosses, and three Playable Characters, all presented at a gorgeous 60 FPS. In the span of 25 years, Sonic has collected countless rings across various Zones, and Sonic Mania revisits what it was that first made Sonic great, giving old and new fans alike an experience that will leave them smiling.

Sonic Mania is  set to release in Summer 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch
