More has been revealed from the interesting aerial combat RPG mix The Falconeer with a new story trailer.

I suppose the word “story” should be used loosely, as the trailer is more tidied gameplay with a cryptic introduction than story, but it’s nice to see something else from the game while we wait for a release date to be revealed.

The game sees you play as an airborne warrior as they soar across an ocean fighting with or against the various warring island factions that are competing for the territory and what secrets it holds.

The press release reveals more than the trailer, including some info on three of these factions:

“The first of these settlements is the Saladmount, a place devoted to harvesting wood-like material from the giant fungal seatrees, which is used as an ultra-light building material. Next is the Shard, home to one of the most important Noble houses in the game, House Borgia, which is a place of sharp, imposing rock features. The third is the Imperial Harbour, the largest city of the Ursee and the Royal seat atop Imperial Peak.”

The combat on show offers a glimpse at the tense dog-fighting players will get to engage in, as well as tackling ships on the sea. We see giant bugs, other ‘falconeers’ as well as blimps, ships and other winged creatures.

If the movement and controls are on point, this could turn out to be a really fun action game. Hopefully there’ll be something more detailed revealed soon – maybe something more on why it considers itself an RPG and what those mechanics involve.

No release date is set as of yet, but the game is supposed to release this year for Xbox One and PC.
