At last, after a long and tumultuous development, one of the announced new System Shock titles is within sight.

Coming in summer of this year, System Shock Remake is a reboot of the original System Shock game released in 1994, a sci-fi adventure which sees you awake aboard a space station which has been taken over by a murderous AI.

This reboot encountered a number of issues in its development which have obviously led to it being delayed – at one point even officially on hiatus as the developers admitted things had gotten out of control.

This good news also comes with a new demo, features on various PC platforms (including Steam, GOG and Epic Store) and will be a good opportunity for those who’ve not been following the progress to see the retro title in its recreated form.

There’s no specific date set as of yet, but “late summer” is the broad release period. The demo is to follow on consoles at a later point, which obviously confirms its release on PlayStation and Xbox as well. If you are looking forward enough to want to pre-order as well, this will include a version of System Shock 2 Enhanced.
